At the Shtiebel, we are so blessed to have Reb Ezra lead tefillah regularly for us. He has a superpower of choosing and leading melodies that help the kahal truly enter and engage with him in the tefillah – they are coleading with him, rather than being spectators. Reb Ezra is also a master of timing and pacing, and knows how to respond to the needs of the room as we travel together through the holy words of the prayers.

Reb Ezra gave me a foundation in reading Torah that was very deep and wonderful. I came to him with a first grade knowledge of reading Hebrew, and through a rigorous but joyful process, he opened the door for my reading and chanting Torah. I had to learn a great deal, but he was an excellent teacher and guide. Way to go, RebEzra!

I met Reb Ezra at Camp Isabella Freedman when he was leading the Jewish Renewal Service for Shavuot. I really enjoyed his service leadership, guitar playing and singing. I lead a small congregation in Northern New York State with monthly Jewish Renewal services. I have been working with him online for the past year as he has helped me expand my service repertoire. I am so grateful for his knowledgeable support and teaching!

I started studying with Reb Ezra a year and a half ago. I wanted to say Kaddish for my Dad and had no idea what prayers were said when or that there was a structure to morning minyan. Some prayers are repeated, some silent. He recorded prayers . We sang Niggunim. With one or two prayer lines. He taught me about which prayers go with which holidays. Most of all Reb Ezra is patient loving and a good listener. Reb Ezra’s love of Judaism is Contagious. Our sessions are the highlight of my week.

R. Ezra is an amazing davener, a sweet-strumming singer, and an especially thoughtful guide to praying and Jewish tradition.  Conversations with Ezra are always lively, spiritually oriented, thought provoking, and FUN!!  Playful and serious at the same time, he holds the sweetness that’s needed to be a great teacher. I can’t imagine a better person to guide us through Jewish prayer practice!
